My grandmother, and my sister had Parkinson’s. My sister spent over 20 years in care, most of it totally disabled; initially unable to wash or dress herself, then unable to roll over in bed, go to the bathroom without aid, finally unable to speak and eat. Unfortunately her memory and brain were active, but she slipped away aged 80. No farewells or final words. Thirty years of hell for her and a menacing sense of hopelessness for all her family. No one should live like this. We are kinder to murderers and animal killers. We need more funding and research to stop it in its tracks.
