New Zealanders report psychological distress

Nearly a third of New Zealanders felt badly distressed during lockdown. Research found their wellbeing plummeted with nearly a third experiencing moderate to severe psychological distress, especially young people.

Research found almost a third of participants experienced mental distress during the lockdown, with 30 per cent reporting moderate to severe psychological distress and 16 per cent had moderate to high levels of anxiety. Almost 40 per cent said their level of wellbeing was low.
